Voices of Youth and Diversity

There was a Youth Roundtable at the The Canadian Forum on Women’s Activism in Constitutional and Democratic Reform. These young women and men, university and high school students and young activists from across Canada discussed how the women’s movement of today is different from that of 1981. They also talked about the challenges that their generation faces and the struggles that still need to be won. The National Film Board of Canada’s Citizen Shift program worked with an all youth crew to cover the forum and interview the youth. A high school essay contest, “Lived Writes”, was held for high school students and the 3 winners attended the entire conference, working in partnership with Taking IT Global, the largest on line community of youth working for global social change. As well, the Women’s Legal Education Action Fund, LEAF, has a Youth Commission.
